Facebook Impressions….confused?

Facebook Impressions

So you have yourself a Facebook page and are able to get Facebook Impressions.  So what actually are these and what exactly do they mean? Well here is a short Q & A to explain it all.

Q: Is the impression count the number of users or people who have seen the post?
A: The simple answer is No, the number of impressions measures the number of times the post has been rendered on user’s browsers. These impressions can come from a user’s news feed, live feed, directly from the Page, or through a Fan Box widget.

Q: What does the % of feedback measure?
A: This measures the number of comments and likes. No other actions (such as video plays, link clicks, etc) are part of the feedback percentage. The formula used for computing this percentage is (Comments+Likes)/Impressions

Q: How come the impression count higher than the number of Fans the Page has?
A: Good question! This is because many users refresh their homepage, and visit their homepage multiple times during a session, and each time the post is rendered, it counts as an impression.

Getting social with the BBC

Emily Maitlis

I spent Thursday last week working with the BBC, in particular the lovely Emily Maitlis who I have to say was just fantastic, a real professional with the most wonderful speaking voice.  I had been asked if I would contribute to the making of a documentary to be screened at the end of the year on BBC2 regarding Facebook and its impact on business generally. We sat in my home for some hours just chatting and intermittently filming, it was fun and light-hearted and the BBC crew Jo Hicks & Charles Miller were total troopers.

Later that day and after a well earned filter coffee, we went on location, filming in Ripley, a beautiful Surrey village.  I got to chat to a few local business owners about how Facebook was not just a wonderful way to share their services and products, but to listen to their customers and potential customers and how effective it was in monitoring their online reputation.  At this point a few curtains were twitching at the site of the cameras and for a spilt second I felt a little famous ..haha    The day flew by really quickly and they had to head over to Godalming to interview a local pop/rock band Prince Charming, one that I manage the social media for, they certainly do a full working day!

Jo and Charles head off to the US very soon to interview Mark Zuckerberg and get his input for the programme and I eagerly wait to see the final edit, it should be finished by November…so set your Sky boxes!
